Ring in the Holidays!

Sheet musicI don’t know about you, but I think one of the best things about this time of year is the music. I just love holiday songs! If you feel the same, you’re in for a treat because the Library is hosting classical guitarist, Jeff Peters, on Thursday, December 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room. He will share both holiday and classical favorites and then be on hand to answer questions from the audience while refreshments are served. This event is FREE to all ages, but plan to arrive early as seating is limited. We look forward to seeing you there!

A Season for Reading

In the midst of the holiday season, summer seems far away.  And Summer Reading Club seems even further away.  Which is unfortunate because it’s so much fun!  But don’t fret because we have exciting news.  We’ve begun a Winter Reading Club for all ages called Azle Reads!  All you need to do is visit the library to pick up an entry form and then read four of the ten genres/formats on the list (e-book, audiobook, New book, etc.).  You are then eligible to submit a raffle ticket to win one of several awesome gift baskets (How does a Duck Dynasty themed basket sound? Or a basket chock full of movie tickets, candy, and popcorn?).  Each person can fill out up to three entry forms, which are due by December 30th at 6:00 pm.  The winner will be announced at our party on Thursday, January 2nd at 6:00 pm (you do not need to be present to win).

This really is a chance for all of us to branch out as readers.  Perhaps you’ve never read a Western or tried an audiobook.  Well now’s the time!  Because we have literally thousands of materials for you to choose from, plus very friendly librarians who are always excited to recommend books for you to try.  I’ll admit to only having read one or two ebooks, so I borrowed a friend’s Kindle over Thanksgiving, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  I plan to read a Western next.  I hope you’ll join us in discovering new books.  Who knows – the next one you read might become a new favorite!
