Why Should Kids Have All the Fun?

27 Apr

I know summer is a few weeks away, but when the weather hits 90 and I’ve made my first batch of lemonade in months, it seems to me spring is officially over.  And really, we’ve been thinking about summer since January because…drumroll please…we’ve been planning our first ever Adult Summer Reading Club!  That’s right, gone are the days when only kids and teenagers would be rewarded for reading.  The theme this year is “Master the Art of Reading.”  The club is open to adults ages 18+, and it starts June 5th.  You can come to the Information Desk to register and pick up a reading log.  Once you read 5 hours (you can read a book, magazine, the back of the cereal box, or listen to an audiobook), come back to the library with your log and receive a small prize.  Then, at 10 hours, you’ll be able to choose from our wonderful selection of paperback books.  At 15 hours, and every 5 hours after, you can enter your name in to a raffle of your choosing.  We’ve received some wonderful donations this year, so we’ve got some awesome prizes:  a Nook, Starbucks gift card, free massage, gas card, and so much more!  There is no limit on how many times you can enter your name in for the prizes, and we’ll announce the winners at our Finale Party on July 26th at 4:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room.

Plus, we’re planning some exciting adult art programs for June and July to go with our Adult Summer Reading Club theme!
